Grand Theft Auto 4 – Kingston’s First Impression

Well, from the first 10 minutes of gameplay, I had a weird Dirty Disc error.

I turned on the 360, opened the disc tray, popped in GTA 4 and everything started up normally.  I watched the intro movies, played through the first mission, and after that, I get a “Disc may be dirty or damaged”.  It might just be my system, I’ll find out more from M$ tonight.

Also, Multiplayer was fun, but a lot of times, when I was in Chris’ party, we’d get our party dropped.  So, we’d have to start all over.

What’s up with that?

The Panzer Dragoon Story

Panzer Dragoon

Gamasutra has a crazy (and lengthy) article about the history of the Panzer Dragoon series. This short, but solid series of games still means a lot to me. I remember playing the first Panzer Dragoon on my Sega Saturn and thinking about how awesome the game looked. It was also the first game that I saw my dad play. He would only play through the first level and hand the controller off to me but just the fact that he would play was really cool to me.

I remember really wanting to pick up the sequel, Panzer Dragoon Zwei but I was so young back then that I only got games when it was either my birthday, my brother’s birthday or Christmas. Other games distracted me from ever getting it.

Then there is Panzer Dragoon Saga. My brother bought it from a local games store that’s not there anymore (Games Etc. for those of you that remember). I remember going with him and seeing multiple copies of it. Only 30,000 copies were made. If only we had known that the game would sell nowadays for about $150-200 a copy on eBay…

Enough of my reminiscing, go read the article!

The Sims Sells 100,000,000 Copies

So, Rod Humble announces today that The Sims sold 100,000,000 copies worldwide. That’s a ton of freaking copies. Who would’ve thought a game that is based around satisfying your Sims’ needs and aspirations, building homes, and trying on different clothes would generate that many sales. Some people criticize EA for their lack of innovation and their efforts to continuously coming out with new versions of the exact same game. Despite what critics say, EA and Maxis have really hit a goldmine with this game. Imagine selling 100,000,000 copies at $20 or $30 each. No wonder they keep coming out with new expansion packs and stuff packs for The Sims. Heck, I would do the same thing if I was EA. As a thank you to its fans, The Sims will be giving a free downloadable outfit for their Sims.

Gaming Deals – Amazon

Now this one’s a doozy. Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360 is only $19.99 at Amazon. I bought it for $30 a few months ago and that was already a steal. This game is one of the better RPGs on the Xbox 360, although there aren’t many of them. I would have taken this deal if I didn’t already have the game. It’s probably the best price you’ll find without getting it at EB games, USED.

Wii Fit

It’s official. Wii Fit, which includes the Wii balance board and the Wii Fit game, will launch on May 19th in the states for $89.99! You gotta hand it to Nintendo though. This thing is going to sell like hotcakes and then result in even more of a demand for the Wii. They really have something going here.

I’m sure even Wii Fit will be difficult to find up until at least the holiday season. I won’t fall for it though, Nintendo. I know that thing is just going to end up underneath my bed after playing with it for a month at most. I already have enough trouble putting away my controllers for the Gamecube, Wii and 360, Karaoke Revolution/Rock Band mics, Guitar Hero/Rock Band Guitars and the drum set. Thanks, but no thanks.

… I’m sure in May, I’ll be posting again, complaining about finding a place to put my new Wii balance board.
